On July 12th 2010 we found out that we were
expecting and we were over the moon! We were so excited to start our family and
see where this journey would take us.
Little did we know that it would take us on a journey
through bedrest and the NICU before we go to enjoy being Grayson’s parents fulltime.
November 16th, 2010 I started my job as full time
mom, about 4 months sooner than we had anticipated it. I was put on ‘limited
activity’ as the medical community calls it, but really I spent all day in bed
hoping that we could make it through the next 19 weeks until we were due. I went
into preterm labour on January 8th, 2011, but was so blessed that we
were able to hold on to Grayson for a few more weeks. On January 28th,
2011 I went into labour again. I had been contracting for 4 weeks straight, but
on the 28th it started to get regular again and a lot stronger and
closer together. We went our local hospital, and were transferred to a hospital
an hour away that would be able to help Grayson if he were to arrive.
On January 30th, 2011 at 3:45am I met my son. 8
weeks early, but strong and healthy and whole. Grayson stayed in the NICU for
33 days, and on March 3rd, 2012 we go to bring home our son. We
became his full time parents; no more nurses or doctors, just Brian and I.
Our whole journey is below. It includes posts from here as
well as emails sent to our family.
